Your home office is perfectly set up? Wonderful. Now it's about maintaining this state in the long term. We have three good tips for you:
• Create a routine: Anyone working from home must practice setting boundaries between work and leisure. Routine helps with this. Make the transition between leisure and work the same every morning and evening. For example, make your coffee in the same mug and place it on your desk. This signals to yourself: it's time to start! Always end your workday by tidying up your workspace. This not only helps you maintain order, but it also tells your "work self" that the workday is over.
• No household chores during work hours: It's tempting to quickly do a load of laundry or dust something off. But it distracts you. It's best to set a clear schedule for your day. Household chores can be included, but constantly switching between "personal" and "professional" tasks will ultimately cost you more time than you think you're saving.
• Business as usual: Even for the home office, it makes sense to change out of your pajamas and be presentable. This not only makes it easier to distinguish between work and personal time but also prevents you from being caught off guard by spontaneous video calls.
